Tips for Traveling in Twos

Traveling in twos is no easy task...we've had to figure it out, journey by journey. I'm not going to lie, we have fought on almost every trip we have gone on together; either because of sleep-deprivation, lost items or just because things weren't going as planned.

It happens, y'all. We're here to help you learn from our mistakes. For those of you who are considering traveling with a buddy or significant other, here are our 4 top tips you need to know!
We have nothing to lose and a world to see.

1. Be aware of each other's interests

I don't know how many times I've relied on my partner to handle the travel plans and my expectations were much higher so the trip fell short. And vice versa... Nikita likes to "wing it" and I'd rather book tours ahead of time. We all have different interests, right?

Now that we've learned our lesson, Nikita and I will sit down before even leaving on a trip to consider what each of us must see or what might not have time for.  It will also help you two figure out what you want to do together or if you'd rather go it alone.

3. Spend with your partner in mind

Sometimes the partner you are traveling with only wants to shop or only eat out at local restaurants. Or maybe that is you! Either way, if you're on a budget, you gotta stick to that budget.

The way we travel, we are always looking to save money, so if we find something we have to take home or are recommended a restaurant by a local, we discuss it together first. Communication with you traveling partner is very important, y'all!

2. Do something you would never consider doing

Now this could be simply eating something you never have before or something more extreme like jumping out of an airplane! You obviously know your own limits, but consider doing something crazy once in a while.

In order for you both to have a good time, you both need to consider doing something new. We promise you that the trip will be much more memorable after you've stepped out of your comfort zone. And you and your partner will have a stronger bond!

After we van-camped through Iceland together every trip after seems to be a breeze for us. There were some bad arguments on that trip because we had never had to deal with van-life before! But both of us wouldn't change that experience for anything.

4. Take it easy!

This is the most important tip we can give you travelers. The whole point of your trip is to have fun and see the world so just chill out!

Obviously, if you have a series of tours booked or you are trying to make your connecting flight, you are going to stress out a little. But if you try to micromanage every detail of your trip you will not have a fun time.
